This is "F" week and our theme for this week and next is "Fall Fun." We will be finishing up with apples that we began last week and later in the week we will begin talking about leaves, animals in fall and more.
Today at critical thinking time we did some identification of our names and friends names on apple cut-outs. We flipped the apples over and worked on naming numerals 1 - 19. We did lacing of fall shapes. And we worked on making letters L & F by rolling play dough into "snakes" and using the snakes as our big lines and little lines for our letters. Some photos to follow:
PLAY DOUGH:
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 Tablespoons Cream of Tartar
- food coloring (about 1-2 teaspoons)
- 1 cup water
Mix dry ingredients in a medium pot. Add water, food coloring and oil. Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Don't worry of the mixture looks like a globby mess. It will turn into dough. When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, take it out and put it on a floured surface. Knead gently. When finished store the dough in an airtight container or ziplock bag.
NO COOK PLAY DOUGH:
- 1 Cup of all purpose flour
- 1 Cup of water
- 1/2 Cup of salt
- 2 Tablespoons of Cream of Tartar
- 3 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
Add all ingredients in a bowl. Add 1 cup of boiling water. Stir all ingredients until it turns into dough. Take it out of the bowl and knead it together. When finished store the dough in an airtight container or ziplock bag.
