Today we did an experiment to demonstrate how a layer of blubber helps to keep Polar animals warm. The children put one hand into a "Blubber Bag" (made by putting Crisco shortening between two plastic bags). They placed the other hand in a "Control Bag" ( two bags put together without any shortening). Both covered hands were then dipped into a bucket of ice water. Ask your child about what happened when he/she put his/her hands into the ice water. Here is a collage of the children doing the experiment. We have some new faces in our classroom! For the next month or two Yulissa, a student from Lake Forest High School, will be in our classroom for one hour 3 days a week. She will be accompanied by one of her teachers, Mr. McAdams. (Some of the children call him "Mr. M".) Yulissa will be here during part of our critical thinking rotations and also during our large motor play time. We are all looking forward to our 100 day celebration tomorrow. Can't wait to see all the cleaver 100 day projects!
