This week was our celebration of Dr. Seuss (Theodore Seuss Geisel).
We read The Cat in the Hat and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. The children made "-AT" family rhyming books. They made hand print "Thing 1 and Thing 2" and our composing stories about what would happen if Things 1 & 2 came to school.
TUESDAY:
In the morning we read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. The children used a Venn Diagram to sort blue fish; red fish; and red and blue fish.
It was a "Wacky Wednesday"!!! We arrived in our classroom to find shoes on the wall, pictures turned upside-down and all sorts of wacky things going on in our room!
THURSDAY:
On Thursday we read Green Eggs and Ham. We did a rhyming activity. "I would eat them in a __________. I would eat them with a __________. The children had to match rhyming picture cards to complete the sentences. We did a "green eggs" activity during small group rotations. The children matched capital and lower case letter pairs. (pictures)
Friday was Silly Sock Day. Ms. Yvonne got her tongue all in knots reading Fox in Socks. The children did an activity classifying, sorting a graphing socks. The classifications they came up were Christmas socks, Halloween socks, striped socks, and plain socks.
