Important Dates: We had an awesome theme with apples this week! It was "Apple Week" and also "E" so we painted APPLES at the Easel & made "Apple Prints". Our Artists did a great job! Check out our "Apple Gallery" We did a visual-motor planning center where the children had to "copy" an apple picture using flannel board pieces: On Monday the children did an activity sorting pictures according the the beginning sounds we have learned: L, F & E Mat Man does an important job. He helps children learn about their bodies, body functions, counting, taking turns, sequencing, placing pieces, and participating in a group. On Wednesday the children did some apple tasting. They tasted Red Delicious & Granny Smith Apples. They decided which they liked the best. On Thursday the children did button counting on apple trees at an independent center. They were working on numeral recognition and one-to-one correspondence. We played Apple Tree "Roll and Cover". One child rolled a die and then everyone put an apple on the tree where they saw the same number. We were working on subitizing (the ability to recognize the amount of objects without having to count) which is a very important math skill. On Friday the children did apple "3-Ring" sorting. They sorted the apples by different attributes such as color or size. All week the children had fun making apple pie and buying apples in our "Apple Stand" (Slide show) |
